"In the Smoke do things with their mouths you can't imagine!"

In the Smoke, London's most versatile a cappella group, is auditioning for up to two low male voices (basses and baritones) and up to two female voices (sopranos, mezzos or altos).

In the Smoke is a mixed a cappella group of 12-16 members, which rehearses every Tuesday evening in Vauxhall and performs six to ten times per year. Our repertoire is almost entirely arranged by our members and spans pop, rock, indie, folk, jazz and country. Our arrangements are often complex and in almost as many parts as we have members, so a certain level of commitment to performances is expected on top of full commitment to all rehearsals. We aim to match high quality audio & visual performance with sociability and personal musical development.  And fun.

Auditions are informal and fun, and are a two stage process.

All auditionees must attend a first round session with us on either Tue 28 Nov or Tue 6 Dec, 8.00-9.30pm. This session will consist of group warm-ups, private range tests, sight-reading, learning part of a song with us, and performing an unaccompanied prepared solo of your choice.

Some auditionees will be called back for a second round on Tue 13 Dec, 8.00-9.30pm, which will involve more group work with current members.
